Workshops

Stories in Action: with special guest characters

nursery and early years
30-40 minutes for groups of 10-20 children

Dramatic games and experiments with props, simple costume, voices and sound effects to create the characters and experience the drama of a favourite story or picture book.

Stories Aloud: with a guest sound engineer

8-12 year olds
60-90 minutes for groups of up to 30 children

Creating an audio CD of scenes from a favourite story. Using their own voices and home made sound effects and musical instruments, children will be surprised and delighted in the drama (and horror!) of their own audio-stories.

Sound Tracks: with a guest musician

8-12 year olds
60-90 minutes for groups of up to 30 children

Creating a ‘sound track’ of spoken words, sound effects and music, inspired by rhymes and poems from popular poets. This workshop will promote listening, speaking and writing experiments, which children can record and play back for sheer listening pleasure, over and over again.

Perform-a-Story: with guest artists

7-9 year olds
90-120 minutes sessions for groups of up to 30 children

Devising a performance of a favourite story with props, masks, music, sound effects, costume and drama for an audience of friends, teachers and/or parents.

Make-a-Play-Project: with parts for everyone!

10-12 year olds
5 x 90 minute sessions in groups of up to 20 children

A series of five creative drama workshops in which groups of up to twenty children devise and present one of the following:

  • A radio play for audio broadcast
  • A movement drama with music
    and sound effects
  • A dramatisation of a poem or
    short story
  • A serialisation of a
    favourite novel
